Intermediate School Leadership Clubs

November 22, 2019

In the intermediate building for the last 3 years, the staff has taken it upon themselves to get the students more involved and to build character and contribution, so they have created different clubs for the students to join through the Leader In Me initiative. Each teacher, and some administration members, all head up a different club with a topic that they picked. The leadership clubs all meet one Friday a month for 45 minutes, and students are allowed to pick the club they join, but if they don't then they are assigned to one.

The different clubs are:

  • Card Games Club
  • Sunshine Club
  • Culture Club
  • Bird Watching Club
  • Sewing Stories Club
  • D.I.Y. Channel Club
  • Seasonal Crafts II Club
  • Photography Club
  • Sign Language Club
  • Cards for Veterans Club
  • Rebels Girls Book Club- Celebrate Incredible Real-Life Women
  • Kindness Club
  • Outdoor Club
  • Encouragement Club
  • CIA (Community in Action) Club
  • Animation Club
  • Dribbling On and Off the Court Leadership Club
  • SAVE Promise Club
  • Legos Club
  • Collectibles Club
  • Puzzle Club
  • Creative Media Club
  • Board Games Club
  • Creative Expressions Club
  • Yoga and Mindfulness Club
  • Zentangle Club
  • Color and Chat Club
  • GIS Rocks Club
  • Colorful Inspirations Club
  • Perfect Fit Puzzles Club
  • Deliberate Scholars Club
  • Seasonal Crafts I Club
  • STEM Club
  • Find Your Voice Club
  • Boomwhackers Club

Each club does different activities that pertain to their topic. In the GIS (Galion Intermediate School) Rocks Club, students are painting rocks with inspirational messages to "hide" throughout the building for other students to find, and in the Deliberate Scholars Club, students traced outlines of each other and decorated them to make them look more like themselves, and they wrote down different goals they have for themselves in 5, 10, and 20 years. In the Culture Club, students learn about a different culture around the world each month and compare their lifestyles to someone their age in whatever culture they're learning about.
