Join us on Wednesday, September 11th, at 5:00 at the Galion YMCA for the Superintendent's Series: Talk About Galion Schools. This month we welcome Melisa Watters, Chief Academic Officer, who will be there to answer questions and listen to your ideas or concerns. This series will continue every second Wednesday of each month. Hope to see you there!

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Did you know that regular school attendance will help improve reading scores by 3rd grade, helps middle school students achieve greater academic success, and increases the likelihood of graduating from high school? Galion City Schools is dedicated to working with families to reduce absenteeism rates for the 2024-25 school year. Look for more information about attendance and absenteeism to come throughout the month of September and the remainder of the year.

Wow, what a day it was! As we have often said, safety is always at the forefront of our thoughts and decisions. Today we had a unique opportunity to exercise part of our mission statement by providing an additional safe environment for our students. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Pastor Paul Walter at Grace Point Church for allowing us to use their facility as our place of safety for the students of Galion Intermediate. A special thank you goes to our maintenance staff and Fox Plumbing for quickly repairing the leaky regulator. Thanks to them we will all be back in school tomorrow as normal. A shout-out goes to our amazing kitchen staff, aides, and teachers for getting lunches out the door and our students to their designated place of safety and keeping them entertained while waiting to be reunited with their families. Finally a huge thank you to all of you, our parents, guardians, and emergency transportation contacts. Your graciousness and flexibility are greatly appreciated. We are extremely pleased with how the situation unfolded. Thank you for your support today! It truly is a great day to be a Tiger!

Thank you to all parents of Intermediate students and our
amazing staff members from all buildings who jumped in to help us today as we had to evacuate one of our buildings. All students are enjoying lunch and games as they await family members to pick them up. Stay tuned for more information to come this evening regarding today's event.

School attendance 🤝🏻 School achievement We want to have your student(s) in our building as much as possible! But, we understand that life happens; sickness hits, appointments set, etc. That is why we at GIS celebrate GOOD attendance, not just perfect. Let’s set good attendance goals this year together! 🐾

Good morning, GIS families!
We are off to a great start for the year. We are excited to see how our students grow in their academics and thrive in our building.
If you have any questions/concerns please reach out to your new principal, Mr. Matt Dick, at dick.matt@galionschools.org

A district-wide lockdown drill will take place on our campus on Monday, August 19th at 2:15 PM. This is an annual event to review safety procedures with all students and staff. Our technology team will use this drill to ensure the Centegix Crisis Alert system works properly. There may be extra emergency vehicles on campus during this time.

We had an amazing turn out for our 2024-25 Open House tonight. Thank you for attending! Families were able to meet teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, pick up schedules, try out lockers, and sign up for several school activities. Thank you PTO, Key Club, Teen Institute, and many more organizations for sharing information with our community. We appreciate all our teachers and staff members who stayed to greet our families. Don't forget tomorrow is a 2-hr delay! Get some sleep and we will see you here in the morning. It's a great day to be a TIGER!

A big thank you to our GHS Boys Golf who got the front of our building looking nice and fresh for the new year! 🪴⛳️

Can't wait to see everyone back in school on August 15th!

As a reminder, below is our drop-off/pickup procedures! A few notes regarding this:
🔁 If you are picking up/dropping off in the loop, you must be against the curb.
🚘 If you are parked, you must walk your student to and from the sidewalk between the coned area by our front doors. We will not allow students cross the parking lot by themselves.
🚸 We take safety very serious, and we thank you for following these procedures!

In effort to keep our students safe and our parking lots free during dismissal, we have a new distribution location set up on our campus. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter campus until 3:00 p.m. Once school is back in session, we ask that all buses be given the right-of -way. Please be courteous and patient with us and each other as this new traffic pattern becomes routine. For more information or to register, visit galionschools.org/food-pantry
