GIS is excited that our rock climbing wall is up and our kids are loving it! Mr. Willeke is teaching classes during the PE special, the safe way to use the newest addition to his class. Students begin to the right of the picture going across the monkey bars, then horizontally across the rock wall not to go past the top line, and make their way through the net to finish at the second rock wall. Students will only be able to use this part of the gym when the mats are on the ground and supervised by an adult such as Mr. Willeke. Also, it is not mandatory that your child uses the rock wall if they are not comfortable. Mr. Willeke offers open gym choices for those students such as jump rope, basketball, running or other types of exercises so they can continue to work on their physical wellness too.

Galion Intermediate is celebrating Start with Hello Week! Start with Hello Week starts Monday, September 19 and runs all week until Friday, September 23. Start with Hello Week brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation and empowers young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school, youth origination, and community. This is a great way to connect what we are doing in the building to our district and building mission statement as well. Please see the flyer for what the students can wear each day. For Monday- comfy clothes need to be school appropriate- students can wear their pajama tops/pants, sweatshirts/sweatpants and basketball shorts this day only (dressing like a gym teacher) Thank you for your understanding. Have a great weekend everyone- can't wait to see everyone next week to see what they wear! Mrs. Robbeloth

GIS families...I wanted to remind everyone that spirit wear is only for tops/hoodies. All pants and shorts must conform to the dress code in the GIS Student Handbook. No sweat pants or basketball shorts are allowed unless given permission for a "reward" by the administration team. After today, this will become a dress code violation. Thank you for your understanding.

Ms. Garver's class was working on reading and making something from a recipe. They synergized as a class to make cinnamon applesauce. They told Mrs. Robbeloth that they used apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and even a little bit of lemon to create their Friday treat. It sure was scrumptious! Great job everyone.

Great things are happening at GIS! Students in Mrs. Stinehour's 3rd grade class have been working hard on earning their classroom Tiger Paws. A class can earn a Tiger Paw for exhibiting the 3 R's (Ready, Respectful, and Responsible). They can earn these Tiger Paws from any staff member in the building. At 5 Tiger Paws, they were able to wear jeans for the day. As you can see, they are well on their way to the next incentive. It's a GREAT day to be a Tiger at GIS! Way to go students- Mrs. Robbeloth and Duffey are proud of you.

Reminder to GIS families: Picture day will be here on 9/6, so we wanted to give you time to look for those outfits. Students who are purchasing pictures may be out of uniform as long as the outfits are school appropriate. Shirts and dresses should have sleeves and logos and wording on shirts should be respectful to our community. Thank you for keeping our students responsible, respectful and ready. Can't wait to see them all dressed up for their picture day.

GIS Safety Patrol is a select group of Fifth Graders that are committed to providing a safe school environment for all students at GIS and GPS. These students are recommended by their 4th Grade teachers and Safety Patrol Coordinator. Patrol membership is an honored position. Safety Patrol participation offers students an early opportunity to serve as a school volunteer. Safety Patrol promotes: Citizenship, Leadership, Service, and Responsibility. Safety Patrol members arrive before school at 7:30 am, and stay until 3:15 or 3:45. Members are stationed in various posts in and around the Intermediate and Primary buildings.
