Regular daily attendance is key to unlocking a world of opportunities for our students! Here are just a few reasons why showing up matters: Academic Achievement: Consistent attendance helps improve grades and understanding of the material. Every lesson builds on the last, and being present means students won’t miss out! Healthy Routines: Developing a routine fosters discipline and time management skills. These habits not only benefit students academically but also contribute to their overall well-being. Building Relationships: Being in school helps children connect with their peers and teachers. These relationships and mentorships can last a lifetime. Positive relationships are essential for emotional and social development. We’re proud of our students and families for prioritizing attendance! Let’s continue to work together to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. Remember, every day counts! #SchoolAttendanceMatters #BuildingFutures #TogetherWeThrive #EducationExcellence

Stay Engaged with Your Kids Online! Have you talked to your kids about the mobile apps they’re using? Engaging in conversations about their online experiences can help you understand how these apps work and address any concerns, such as cyberbullying or interacting with strangers. We encourage you to monitor the apps your children use and all online activity including social media and gaming sites. Know which apps are tracking location. Know who they “follow” and who is “following” them. Set boundaries and create a safe online environment for our children. Being proactive can help them navigate the digital world more safely! #DigitalSafety #OnlineParenting #EngagedParents #SafeKids #TogetherWeThrive

Did you know that missing just two days of school each month can add up to a full year of missed class time over a student’s school career? Attendance matters! When students are chronically absent, they miss opportunities to learn, build relationships, develop their mental health and well-being and access to critical resources available at school.

Social Media awareness is the under standing of the impact and implications of our interaction with social media. It includes being mindful and making a conscious effort to use social media responsibly and respectfully. Some important tips include: Be aware of what you post - is it true, is it helpful, is it inspiring, is it necessary, is it kind? Be aware of who you are talking to - not everyone is who they say they are. Know what information is being collected from the apps and sites you visit. Limit what you share about yourself and others - are you sharing too much information about you or your children? Finally and most importantly, NEVER agree to meet some

Today we celebrate National IT Professionals Day at Galion City Schools. Hailey Sheppard is just beginning her career in IT but has already been a tremendous asset to our district. We look forward to seeing her grow and establish new skills as well as relationships with our staff and students. For 20 years of dedicated service to our school district, Steven Hammond has made an incredible impact. His expertise, problem-solving skills, and unwavering commitment to keeping our technology running smoothly has been a cornerstone of our success. He has not only kept us connected and secure but has also shown patience, professionalism, and a genuine care for our staff and students. Thank you, Steven, for your outstanding contributions and for being an irreplaceable part of our team for two decades!

September is Attendance Awareness Month. We love all our Tigers and we look forward to seeing each of them at school Monday-Friday. This week we are taking a look at some facts about truancy. Truancy is defined as missing 30 consecutive hours, 48 hours in a month, or 72 hours in a year when a legitimate excuse is not provided. It is important to note that all medical notes are excused and up to 10 parent notes are accepted each year. Disciplinary absences or medical removals do not count toward truancy hours. Truancy laws are mandated by Ohio Law and school districts must follow these laws even to the point of possibly filing charges against a student or parent. If you have any questions or concerns about the attendance policy please reach out to your building office and we will be happy to answer your questions.

School officials and Galion Police received information on Wednesday evening about an unsubstantiated rumor about a threat against our schools. Please rest assured that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we have taken this matter very seriously. As soon as we became aware of the rumor of the threat, the reaction was swift and investigations began. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has come forward with information about this safety concern. We cannot stress enough the importance of community involvement in such situations. Please report any suspicious activity by calling Galion Police at 419-468-9111, calling or texting our school safety tip line at 513-916-1080, or emailing tigertipline@galionschools.org. Thank you. Tuesday Tech Tips from the Galion Technology Department continue this week with four easy tips to help you create a strong password. Tip #1: Longer is Stronger: Create a string of 16 characters or more. Tip #2 Make them Random: Use 4-7 random words. This is commonly called a passphrase. Sometimes silly is easy to remember. Tip #3. Make them Unique: Too often people use the same couple passwords for everything. This is not safe practice. Tip #4: Use a password manager: We all have so many passwords to manage. Using a password manager will help you employ all three safety tips mentioned without having to remember all of them.

Wow, what a day it was! As we have often said, safety is always at the forefront of our thoughts and decisions. Today we had a unique opportunity to exercise part of our mission statement by providing an additional safe environment for our students. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Pastor Paul Walter at Grace Point Church for allowing us to use their facility as our place of safety for the students of Galion Intermediate. A special thank you goes to our maintenance staff and Fox Plumbing for quickly repairing the leaky regulator. Thanks to them we will all be back in school tomorrow as normal. A shout-out goes to our amazing kitchen staff, aides, and teachers for getting lunches out the door and our students to their designated place of safety and keeping them entertained while waiting to be reunited with their families. Finally a huge thank you to all of you, our parents, guardians, and emergency transportation contacts. Your graciousness and flexibility are greatly appreciated. We are extremely pleased with how the situation unfolded. Thank you for your support today! It truly is a great day to be a Tiger!
