Tangrams were no match for our Makerspace students 💪

What a successful 11th annual Socktober! Between the Primary and Intermediate - we brought in 3,537 socks 🤩🧦 This is a great way to support the Marion Homeless Shelter!
3rd Grade: Miss Keller & Miss Seng - 50 pairs
4th Grade: Mrs. Talbott - 371 pairs
5th Grade: Ms. Boccio-Correa - 44 pairs
Pictured are some Primary and Intermediate students delivering the socks, getting a tour of the homeless shelter, and sneaking in a fun lunch!

To the Galion Community,
While we are disappointed that the permanent improvement levy did not pass, we want to express our sincere gratitude to those who supported our efforts. We understand that these decisions are not easy, and we respect the will of the voters.
Our priority remains the education and well-being of our students, and we will continue to work with the resources we have to provide them with a safe and positive learning environment. However, the need for facility improvements and upgrades remains, and we will have to assess how best to address these needs moving forward.
As a district, we are committed to transparency and collaboration. We will seek feedback from the community to better understand the concerns that led to this outcome and continue to explore all options for ensuring our schools remain places where students can thrive.
Thank you again to everyone who engaged in this process. We are grateful for your continued support of our schools and remain focused on our shared goal of providing a high-quality education for all of our students.
Sincerely,
Jeff Hartmann
Superintendent

You're never too experienced to learn something new! Over the last few days we welcomed experts relating to our ELA curriculum, servicing and testing gifted students, co-teaching methods, and vocabulary strategies.

Classes resume on Wednesday, November 6th. We hope you have enjoyed the extra long weekend and are ready to come back to school. See you tomorrow!

Picture retakes are coming up on FRIDAY, November 8th 📸

The Portrait of a Tiger trait for November is Self-Disciplined.
Galion Tigers are self-disciplined, remaining ambitious and driven toward their goals. By engaging in positive and proactive behaviors, Galion Tigers demonstrate their ability to persevere through challenges and pursue a sound moral compass.
Being self-disciplined allows our Tigers to set and achieve goals in and out of the classroom.
Selected students and staff members who demonstrate this trait will be recognized at the November 19th Board of Education meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:30 in the Galion Middle School Media Center.

During the October 29th Town Hall Meeting, the Galion City School District recorded short videos to answer questions regarding Issue 14. This is a permanent improvement levy that is on the November 5th ballot. The Galion City Schools Issue 14 Playlist is available on YouTube and can be accessed from galionschools.org/levyfacts. Watch these videos to learn about how this issue impacts our campus and more importantly, the safety and well being of our students and staff.

GIS did ALL the things this week 👏
There was a Pink Out, visit from Mrs. Aubrey for an animal escape room, Red Ribbon Week presentations by GHS, Leadership Clubs, staff trick-or-treating around the office, and everyone’s favorite: costume and party day!
Shew, the long weekend was definitely earned 🤪

The Galion High School Student Council is offering FREE babysitting for kiddos ages 3-12 from 3:00-6:00 in the high school gym during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday, November 4th AND Thursday, November 7th. Galion Intermediate earned the Silver Award for our PBIS system! 🥈
The Silver Award is given to schools who have successfully implemented not only the Tier 1 supports, but also Tier 2 supports as well as met requirements for reducing chronic absenteeism, and decreasing disciplinary actions. “We are extremely proud to announce that Galion Intermediate School has earned the Silver Award for the 2023-24 school year”, said Matt Dick, Principal. “This building has earned the Bronze Award for the past few years. It’s nice to be recognized for the improvement and we hope to continue to grow and improve this year”.
